Dates for your Listening Diary

Add September 23rd as a good listening date… we bring you a 60 second burst of The Acapulco Kid. The sound quality isn’t excellent but you will be able to hear the opening minute of the demo tape for the Bloody Tourists album’s missing track. It can be found on the Demo’s page.

Music and lyrics by Gouldman & Gouldman (Graham & Hymie, that is)

We also have been given access to a previously-unknown-about song. A track called Ulysses was recorded in two parts, back in 1965 by a young Mr Gouldman. We have an old acetate recording of this song and Graham has informed us that it IS genuine. We’ll be site-posting a section of that song for your listening pleasure at the weekend.

Dates for your Listening Diary

Definitely Different Radio in Manchester sent us an email the other day…

AND…

From Kenneth Thornfeldt…

I did an interview by telephone with Graham Gouldman. He was very kind and nice to talk to. I will send the interview in my radio show Flying on Radio Eskilstuna 92.7 on September 26 at 7.30pm Swedish time. That is 6.30pm British time. I said to Graham that I should contact the Fan Club Site so that the fans all around the world can hear the interview. It will be possible to hear this over the internet by going to Radio Eskilstuna and clicking on the top left icon, “Webradio” It worked well when I interviewed Eric Stewart last year.

Tribute To Kevin Godley

Foremost internet radio program Listening Through A Glass Onyon, hosted by Billy James, will be paying tribute to legendary music artist and video producer extraordinaire Kevin Godley. This special edition of Listening Through A Glass Onyon will be aired on Sunday, October 4, 2009 at 12:00 pm EST (USA) / 5:00 pm (UK) and can be accessed at www.GetReadyToRockRadio.com/glassonyon.htm

The program will showcase music from various points in Godley's career - from Hotlegs to 10cc to Godley and Creme to his most recent celebrated collaboration with former 10cc partner Graham Gouldman, under the guise GG06.

Kevin Godley, former half of the pioneering duo Godley and Creme, has directed and produced some of the most successful music videos in rock and roll for such artists as Duran Duran, U2, Peter Gabriel, Herbie Hancock, Rod Stewart, Keane and The Police to name just a few. The six new GG06 tracks are graced with his tremendous voice - Kevin is arguably one of the great vocalists in music today. "I always figured Kevin had the best voice in the band," complements Graham Gouldman, "ironic that he never sang lead on a 10cc single… Even I managed that. Now justice has been done. Kevin's voice and razor sharp lyrics take us places we haven't visited before… Always a good place to start!"

Godley and Gouldman's recent collaboration GG06 has been receiving rave reviews worldwide. “Now with Gouldman being a legendary songwriter in the sixties, this was likely to be a melodic treat." says Stuart Hamilton of Zeitgeist. "And it is. Despite the years, he and Godley seem to bring out the best in each other, with Godley adding a bit of an edge and Gouldman smoothing the rougher edges away. But it's a much bleaker world they inhabit nowadays with tales of workplace ennui, rape, lost youth and bullying. Not a cheery place. But, despite the passing of time, Godley and Gouldman haven't forgotten how to write a hook, and it's to their credit that you still feel drawn to the material, regardless of the subject matter.” The new GG06 tracks are currently only available for download from the duo's website: www.gg06.co.uk

Listening Through A Glass Onyon is broadcasted out of London the first Sunday of every month. Former shows include specials on Gregg Rolie (Santana/Journey), Gong and guitar legend Bruce Cameron.

Also we recently added 10cc’s Hotel from Sheet Music to our ever-growing repertoire of “home-grown videos”. We hope you will enjoy all we have there!

News update

The 2009 UK tour kicked off last week in Southampton and continues this week with gigs in Manchester, Leicester and Peterborough before continuing on throughout the whole of May and the first two weeks in June. Graham and his touring 10cc friends (Paul Burgess, Rick Fenn, Mick Wilson and Keith Hayman) have already completed one large tour this year, in Holland and Germany. The tourbook can be seen by going to the Concert Books page, and of course by buying one at the concerts.

Our Guest Book is getting bigger. Lots of fans wrote in during the recent Dutch tour and fans in England have started sending some concert praise. Fans can either sign our Guest Book or email us a review of the concert they went to. We’ll set up a review page like we did in 2007 for you to read. The email address to use is reviews@the10ccfanclub.com

Our YouTube page is growing in popularity too. Although it does seem that our most watched clip actually DOESN’T feature 10cc. There’s a certain tartan-clad group of the 70’s seen recording one of their songs at Strawberry Studios (Stockport).

Send us your birthday wishes for Graham, celebrating his birthday on May 10th and we’ll pass them on to him. The email address to use is birthdays@the10ccfanclub.com

Strawberry Studios Website Update…

Peter Wadsworth contacted us the other day to let us know that he has been busy updating his website for Strawberry

Recording Studios, Stockport. He says there is still a lot to be added to it, but that there is plenty to see for now.

March 14

Our YouTube channel 10ccfanclub is growing and getting more and more hits each day. For example, we have just uploaded, today, The Things We Do For Love, which is the first of several planned clips of Eric, Graham and Rick performing acoustically in Liverpool in 1995. This was the last UK concert before heading off to Japan for a short tour. After that, they went their separate ways.

Amongst the others on the site are some montage videos of Don’t (the demo edit), Lost In Love, the newly added We’ve Heard It All Before and the demo edit of From Rochdale To Ocho Rios, which started out life as a track called Man In A Suitcase.

The staff here at the10ccfanclub.com all hope you will enjoy these videos and keep coming back for more. After all, as the band once said… there’s a lot more goodies in the pipeline!!!”

There’s a New Website in Town…

We’d like to announce the fairly recent launch of 10ccworld.com – a new website for 10cc followers.  Working alongside our own site, 10ccworld will aim to keep everyone informed on all tour dates and aspects of Graham’s current incarnation of 10cc.

YouTube, 10cc and the10ccfanclub.com

We have launched our own channel on YouTube… look for 10ccfanclub. We shall be scouring our archives to bring you long lost (10cc-related) footage. Already added is a Godley & Creme directed commercial for Wrangler that Kev and Lol actually wrote and performed the music for.

February 13

We have kindly been given permission by EMSinc Music to reproduce the lyrics for both Do Not Bend and Viva La Difference on the site. Click on this link to take you to the Eric Stewart lyric pages. 2009 Tour Line-Up Announced…

We’ve been informed that the 2009 “touring 10cc” line-up will be as follows… Graham Gouldman on guitars and vocals, Rick Fenn on vocals and guitars, Paul Burgess on drums and percussion (not guitars), Mick Wilson (percussion, vocals and guitars) with Keith Hayman (keyboards) instead of Mike Stevens. The only problem is that we just weren’t told what line-up was for which dates. We’ll try our best to find out as soon as possible.

2009

We have been informed that the server that hosts the Eric Stewart website and several other sites has been hijacked and all the sites are affected. The server company is well aware of what has taken place and is working to restore the sites as we speak.

We were contacted this week by an American fan, Valerie Williams-Smiley, who has asked if we could set up something for Eric Stewart’s birthday which is coming up on January 20th. She has asked if we could set up a page or two of short notes on how or why the music of Eric and or 10cc has been an inspiration to them. So please send in your emails (by the 11th of January if possible) to inspirations@the10ccfanclub.com and we’ll site-post them in time for the 20th.

We’ll be bringing you our review of Eric’s forthcoming new solo album “Viva La Difference” as soon as we can, along with full details on how and where you can buy it.

Apologies for having taken so long but a decision has finally been reached in the latest Caption Contest… the winning entry is Kevin : You know what, Graham, I’ve never been kissed before. Can I cop a feel?
Graham : How dare you!!! It was sent in by Roshen Kaye and we will be contacting Roshen in the very near future. Congratulations to Roshen and to everyone who entered, we salute you!

October 2

Back in November of 2004, the following was added to our site Guest Book by someone signing off as Rob. B.

“I guess the story I am about to tell you is something very special. At least it is to me. I am a hobby songwriter from Germany and all my life I have been thinking what it would sound like to have one of my songs professionally recorded and produced. Earlier this year I was able to get one of the best to participate in my project: Andrew Gold. I spent 4 days with him in his home studio (Qbrain Studios). He really made my song come to life by adding bits and pieces, vocals and additional instruments. This is how Andrew described the situation that followed the recording session: “This guy Rob. B emailed me, telling me he was a fan and also a songwriter, and would I consider producing and singing a song he had written. I agreed, and he came over from Germany and we did the song, which turned out pretty well. So well, in fact, that when Robert came back from the States, he managed to get it on a few radio stations. As it turns out, it's being requested and it's starting to have real momentum....not something we were quite prepared for.” Yes, the song did get quite a bit of airplay time on German radio stations. I think at one point Andrew and Graham Gouldman were even discussing using the momentum of the song to start a comeback with WAX. For various reasons I could not get any labels interested in releasing the song. But who knows what will happen with this song in the future. The song is called “Did You Get What You Want” and it sounds very WAX-like. This whole thing was an unbelievable experience I will cherish for years to come.”

(And yes, the song does sound VERY Wax-ish indeed. Ed)

Well, this week, we received an email from Robert Baitinger and this is what he had to say.

I just wanted to let you know that my debut album is now finally available. It is called “Helping Hands” and I gave my project the ingenious name “Rob B. Project”. Many awesome artists and producers from around the world helped me record my songs. Andrew Gold was one of my helping hands. I would be very grateful if you could support me and let the world know about this album. Many thanks in advance.

What does my music sound like? Well…very diverse. No, that’s not a new style. Just take a cooking bowl, put in catchy, emotional rock/pop songs and ballads. Add a dash of Christina Aguilera, Electric Light Orchestra, Andrew Gold, Eagles, LeAnn Rimes, Alan Parsons Project, Sting, Nickelback and Santana and mix thoroughly. Out comes music that sounds familiar and contemporary, yet fresh and unique. You can find more information and samples here:

www.cdbaby.com/cd/robbproj

So dreams can come true after all.

September 19

Many thanks to all who have entered our latest caption contest… the judges are still deliberating over which caption is the best, so we’ll bring you the decision once they’ve decided. The captions we’ve received – (no more, thanks) – can still be accessed by clicking here

What else can we tell you… oh, yes… should anyone feel the urge to purchase some 10cc goodies, try going to this website www.ronoshop.de – it’s the site that sells all the tour merchandise when Graham goes out on the road with his friends. You can either read the site in English or German but the price is always in Euro’s

Speaking of Graham going out on the road with his friends, it was recently brought to our attention that the part of R. Fenn during recent concerts was performed by Rupert Fenn and NOT Rick. Rick was at home in Australia, therefore making himself unavailable for some gigs, so his nephew stepped in as a replacement. However, from all accounts by fans AND Graham, Rupert was excellent.

One more item of note… an extra date has been added at Dartford at the start of October at the Mick Jagger Centre. We have been informed that the original planned concert has sold out so a second gig has been added.

July 6

Geoff Lamb of Stockport wins the tickets to Frome… the answers that we were looking for were

(a)   The Empire, Liverpool

(b)   Gentlemen

Thanks to all of you who entered.

June 26

We now bring you another competition… a chance to win two tickets to see the latest incarnation of 10cc (Graham & Friends) at the Frome Cheese & Grain Festival, Somerset, England, on July12th. To win, all you have to do is answer two questions… then email your answers with your name and address to tickets@the10ccfanclub.com. Please note ONLY the tickets are the prize. You must make your own arrangements to get to and from the Festival. Anyway, the questions…

(a) 10cc (Eric, Graham, Rick) played their very last Live UK Concert prior to jetting off to tour Japan in 1995… name the venue.

(b) Rick Fenn was recommended to Eric and Graham by Paul Burgess. What was the name of the group that Rick was playing in at the time?

Good luck to everyone. Keep your entries coming in for the caption contest too…

Tickets courtesy of Matt and the gang at www.midnightmango.co.uk Many thanks indeed, Matt

June 20

Lots of things to bring you today…

Firstly – More concert dates for 10cc feat. Graham Gouldman and Friends… August 9th in Bielstein, Germany and then in November and December, they are performing on the Nokia Night Of The Proms 2008 Tour, again in Germany, but for 18 concerts. Also touring are Robin Gibb and Tears For Fears. They have all been added to the dates page.

Secondly, we are starting up a brand new caption contest on the front page of the site… First (and only) prize is a complete set of the Knebworth CD/DVD/book memorabilia as previously mentioned  (see February 29). Our most sincere thanks to everyone at rockmusicmemorabillia.com for their very generous donation of the prize. Study the photo carefully, then email your entries with your name to captioncontest@the10ccfanclub.com The winner will be announced here in due course.

(C) ANOTHER pair of demo editsCharity Begins At Home, from the …meanwhile album and Don’t which was the B-side to Welcome To Paradise, also from the …meanwhile album. A slight change to all the demo/edits we have posted… they are now mp3 files and not wav files. Memory constraints at the site have forced us to switch them over to smaller file sizes, but they are still just as enjoyable as ever. They can be found on the Demo’s page.

June 12

We bring you TWO demo mixes today… one from Eric Stewart and one from 10cc. From 10cc, we bring you a track that was originally called Man In A Suitcase but when it finally appeared in public as part of the 1978 Bloody Tourists LP, it had changed its name to From Rochdale To Ocho Rios. In March of 2008, the monthly Jaguar Drivers’ Club magazine published a very interesting article about one Jag’ driver in particular, namely Eric Stewart. It was a 5 page full colour spread and made for some very good reading. Well, Steve the editor had a chat with his Company Secretary regarding the spare copies of the magazines that they have. “We always have a few extra printed for shows and events etc., and I asked whether some of these copies could be made available to the fan club”. Well, the answer was yes, and a limited number of these (available while stocks last) can now be ordered from the club for GBP4.25 including postage (in the UK).

You can order by post with a cheque from:

The Jaguar Drivers' Club Ltd

Jaguar House

18 Stuart Street

Luton

Beds.

Or by phone and with card on 01582 419332 - Just ask for the March 2008 issue. For those that don’t live in the UK, please ask for full pricing details by emailing jaguar_drivers_club@lineone.net.

Wendy Bannister at the Rolling Stones Commemorative Box-set site has written to us…

I wonder if you would mention on your site the 1976 Knebworth T shirt, featuring 10cc we are now selling. To avoid any billing problems with 10cc and The Rolling Stones the artwork was designed as a circle with all the bands in equal size and prominence. However, because 10cc appear at the top of the artwork it puts them in the position of the headliner. If anyone is interested the price of the T shirts is only £11.95 plus post and can be either purchased on line at www.rockmusicmemorabilia.com or by emailing me at info@rockmusicmemorabilia.com

May 14

Okay, you’ve hopefully all seen the new front page by now, complete with the NEW “Demo’s” button, which will take you directly to ALL the demo’s we gave you last year. We’ve added two more this week by way of a late birthday celebration for Graham Gouldman, who reached the ripe young age of 62 on May 10th. Now what we’ve done with these two  demo’s from Graham’s soundtrack album Animalympics is to edit together the demo version of a song with the finished version. We’ve given “Go For It” and “Love’s Not For Me” this treatment. This also lets people who may not have heard any Animalympics songs before, the chance to hear them!!! Enjoy!!!

May 13

Big L International this week will be featuring Graham Gouldman as a special guest for a 2 part special. The first hour airs this Sunday at 4pm with the second airing the following Sunday 4pm.

We'll also hear some of the stories behind some of those classic tracks from 10cc and how the band got it's name.
